In the Classroom

Cultural Program

New York City is our classroom.

Our students learn beyond their classroom walls, engaging directly with NYC’s cultural treasures. Visits across all grades to The Met, MoMA, Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, New York Public Library, Museum of Jewish Heritage, and other renowned institutions bring learning to life.

Our Art and Music program is integrated across the curriculum, enriching learning through meaningful interdisciplinary experiences, cultivating the skills needed to unlock each student's creative potential, and fostering imagination, artistic appreciation, intellectual curiosity, and self-expression.

Students experience art and music at the highest level by attending performances at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center, touring museums with their art instructor as a guide, and engaging firsthand with the artistic and cultural richness of New York City.

Cultural Program

Art Program

In the Art program, students study a wide range of modalities, including ceramics, drawing, painting, sculpting, printmaking, design, photography, video, filmmaking, mixed media, and architecture. They learn about the history, techniques, and significance of renowned artists and their work before creating their own inspired pieces. Middle School students incorporate Jewish texts, values, history, and identity into their art creations. Student artwork is displayed in our hallways and has even been exhibited at the Center for Jewish History.

Music Program

The Music program teaches students music appreciation, theory, composition, songwriting, and performance. They practice interpreting and responding to classical music through movement, art, and conversation. Students in early grades learn about music from cultures around the world, read basic music notation, play a variety of instruments, and compose and perform their own original pieces. These studies enhance our Social Studies curriculum as students experience the cultures, historical periods, and movements they research in engaging and memorable ways.
